Referendum Status Information

The following table describes each status flag used for Referendum contests.

Status

Status Description

Deferred

Election deferred - typically occurs when Council is in administration.

Ready for Election

Status shown on Virtual Tally Room (VTR) prior to first polling place being returned on election night.

Election Night

Status shown while polling places are being returned on election night

Final for Election Night

Status shown when all polling places have been entered for given election/contest on election night (note: should some polling places not be entered on election night due to unforseen circumstances they may be entered later).

Check Count Commenced

Status shown when check count and declaration vote entry is in progress.

Check Count Completed

Status shown after check count completed. This will normally occur on Sunday afternoon or evening, however some counts may be delayed until early the following week. Typically declaration votes (Postal, Declared Institution, Prepoll, Silent and Section Votes) are still being entered.

Declaration Vote Count Completed

Status shown after declaration vote entry is completed. This will occur after 6pm on the Monday following the election. This status indicates that the distribution of preferences or final counts can commence.

Final Count Completed - Referendum

Status shown when the final count has been completed and placed on the VTR.

Declare Referendum

Status shown when referendum result has been declared by the Returning Officer and shown on the VTR.
